American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy
History
Guy A. Settipane, M.D. a clinical allergist practicing in Providence, RI recognized this void and founded the journal. It was his vision that the journal serve as a clearinghouse of information important to the many diverse elements attempting to improve patient care and medical research. Most recently the journal has expanded its scope to publish manuscripts in the following categories: Diagnosis and Treatment; Surgical and Procedural Interventions; Mechanisms of Rhinosinusitis, Allergy and Other Rhinologic Diseases; and Nasal Physiology. The first issue was published in the Spring of 1987 under the direction of two co-editors John T. Connell, M.D. and Larry E. Duberstein, M.D. Both specialists in nasal disease, John Connell represented the Allergy section while Larry Duberstein covered the Otolaryngology section. In 1991, Phil Fireman, M.D. replaced John Connell as Co-editor-in-Chief of the Allergy section and served in that capacity until 1994. In 1991 David Kennedy, MD replaced Dr Duberstein as co-Editor-in-Chief, and in 2004 took over as the sole Editor of the Journal where he served until 2012. In 2012, when "allergy" was added to the title of the journal in order to more accurately reflect the journal's content, the official title became the American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy. In the years since the Journal was founded, Rhinology has become a true subspecialty in its own right as a result of the constantly expanding clinical and basic research within the field. The American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy is committed to expanding knowledge and publishing the best clinical and basic research within the fields of Rhinology & Allergy from around the world. |
